Nature and Trails
The official 510 Rome Trail follows the Buzet–Ročko Polje–Kolinasi–Buzet route. It is classified as moderately difficult and runs over 5 kilometres of asphalt and 20 kilometres of macadam. The entire route is 25.67 kilometres long; the stated duration is two hours.
In the surrounding area, a road climbs uphill past the St Andrew spring and reaches a junction about 200 metres later. A route in the surrounding area leads to a hilltop at an elevation of 577 metres, where Črni Grad once stood. A road passes by Ročko Polje railway station before entering the forest. Next to a church stands a stone water installation dating from 1892; its tap is supplied by the nearby St Andrew springs.
Culture and History
The Church of St Roch, located on the roadside, was built in 1860 on the site of an older church. It has a porch and a bell gable on the façade with one bell. Its features also include a corner altar, a rustic relief of Christ on the façade, as well as reused ancient reliefs and inscriptions. Two hewn stones from the ruins of the Church of St Helena are mounted at the rear corners of the church.
Rokova, the feast of Saint Roch on 16 August, is celebrated with a procession and a folk festival. Above Ročko Polje lie the remains of Crni Grad, which date from the Frankish period.
Cuisine
Restaurant Nela in Ročko Polje is regarded as a venue with a hundred-year tradition of hospitality and offers prosciutto, truffles, steaks, fish, shellfish, dishes prepared to order, and grilled dishes.
Events
The Ročko Polje Open is an international pairs bocce tournament associated with Boćarski klub Ročko Polje. An edition is listed for 2025; the 2024 edition attracted 31 pairs from Slovenia and Croatia.
