Buje: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Buje-Buie lies on a 222-metre-high hill and overlooks the surrounding green terraced fields. On Buje’s old square stands a patrician house from the 15th century – a detail that is equally part of the historic setting.
Anyone considering Buje as a destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment for this purpose.
Culture
The Church of St. Servulus was built between 1754 and 1769. Its furnishings are late Baroque and include statues, altars and paintings; the bell tower serves as a lookout point. The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary has its own bell tower and an elaborately designed interior. A partially visible pentagonal defensive tower in Buje once protected the western town gate.
The Etnographic Museum Buje is located in a building above part of the 17th-century defensive wall. It reconstructs agricultural and craft areas, including olive oil presses and a blacksmith’s workshop. On the first floor, the museum presents a traditional kitchen; on the second floor, a bedroom with a loom and textile handicrafts.
