Popovići: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Popovići combines significant religious and cultural heritage with routes through the Konavle area. On a hill above the village stands the single-nave Church of St. George, whose present appearance dates from the 18th century. Around it are about ten decorated medieval stećak tombstones; the village also preserves evidence of an earlier Late Antique fortress.
Culture and History
The grounds of St. George include a preserved cistern carved into the natural rock. It is accessible through an opening to the west; water can also be collected through an opening to the east.
Popovići is also home to the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a votive chapel for all the villages of Konavle, preserves a rare example of mural painting in the sacred architecture of Konavle, and is generally dated to the 17th century.
