Kupinečki Kraljevec is located on the western slopes of the Vukomeričke gorice hills. The approximately 10-kilometre-long forest hiking route “Šumske šetnice Kupinečkog kraljevca” runs there and takes about three hours, consisting of four circular sections named Sv. Ivan, Sv. Rok, Vrbanička and Okretaljka.

Culture

The traditional residential building at Potočka cesta 4 in Kupinečki Kraljevec is listed as protected cultural heritage under designation Z-2995. The traditional residential building and farmstead at Kraljevečki brijegi 174 are also listed as protected cultural heritage, under designation Z-2994.

The Raspelo i poklonac in Kupinečki Kraljevec is listed in the Register of Protected Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Croatia under designation Z-2647. The Chapel of St John the Baptist was built in 1903 as a simple single-nave building measuring 20 metres in length and 8 metres in width.

The fully preserved traditional farmstead of the Hobolić family comprises a residential building from 1924, a komora and hayloft from 1893, a stable with a hayloft, and a kitchen. At the Tradicijski objekt Lončar, a partially preserved traditional farmstead has survived, consisting of a brick-built kitchen, a sukačnica with a bread oven, a woodshed and a well; these structures were built around 1935.

History

The local school in Kupinečki Kraljevec operated as an independent school from 1877 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1977; in 1958, it was affiliated with the school in Brezovica.

Tradition

Ivanje is a recurring local tradition in Kupinečki Kraljevec that combines old customs, music, dance and community togetherness, welcoming guests of all generations. The 14th Ivanje in Kupinečki Kraljevec was organised by Centar za kulturu Novi Zagreb, Gradska četvrt Brezovica, Vijeće MO Kupinečki Kraljevec 1, Sportsko društvo Kupinečki Kraljevec, KUD Kupinečki Kraljevec and DVD Kupinečki Kraljevec.
