Church, park and archaeological remains

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is protected as an immovable cultural property under registration number Z-1895. Its organ dates from 1787, was restored in 1909 and has retained its Baroque character. It is listed as a movable individual cultural property under registration number Z-4174. The cultural and historical ensemble of the settlement of Križ is also protected. The park there was created in the late 19th century; its design is attributed to head gardener Viteslav Durchanek.

Another historical focal point is Sipćina in Okešinec, a protected archaeological site with the remains of a Roman villa rustica. Research indicates that it was used from the last decades of the 1st century BC until the 3rd or 4th century. More recent radiocarbon data additionally point to use in the 6th and 7th centuries. Excavations uncovered parts of two buildings: both have an apse and surviving remains of underfloor heating. Sipćina is considered one of the more significant archaeological sites in Moslavina.

Milka Trnina and cultural traditions

Opera prima donna Milka Trnina was born in Vezišće on 19 December 1863. A memorial room is located in the Milka Trnina Cultural Centre in Vezišće. An annual Christmas concert in her honour takes place there on 18 December. Over the years, the Križ Gallery in Križ has hosted numerous artists and cultural events.

The Lipanjski susreti Milke Trnine also have a longstanding connection to Vezišće: the festival has been held every year for more than 30 years. Its programme features folk and musical performances, with choirs, cultural associations, children and young people, as well as traditional costumes, dances and customs. Badalić Days take place annually in early June. During the event, the Josip Badalić Award is presented to the best student of Russian Studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.

Festivals, activities and regional highlights

The Krigl Fest in the centre of Križ combines craft beer tastings with grilled dishes and entertaining beer competitions for visitors. The annual programme of the Days of the Municipality of Križ takes place on the last weekend in August and includes a cycling tour, a crafts and handicrafts market, and a wine tasting. Those interested in a sporting event can take part in the Cross Hill Run Križ, with races over 5 and 10 kilometres, as well as the Kids Run for children.

The Žutica forest lies in the southern part of the municipality. The Česma River is considered suitable for fishing. These natural attractions complement the cultural and historical sights with a different travel focus, without requiring visitors to choose a single excursion destination.

The Križ interchange on the A3 motorway is at kilometre 74.6 in the eastbound direction; a road leads from there to the town of Križ. The Križ rest area is at kilometre 77.1.
