The green valley of the Luka stream, the Blue Route and historic sites give the Municipality of Luka its own character. Families will find a range of things to enjoy here: a drive through a landscape rich in water, cultural heritage and, at Dva Potoka, a small zoo and a large playground area. The experiences you want to focus on during your trip can also help determine where you stay.

Through the Luka stream valley

The Blue Route follows a gravel road through a lush valley crossed by waterways. It also leads into the green valley of the Luka stream. At point 24, after 4 km along a level road, it returns to the centre of Luka. This specific distance helps with planning your day; the route combines a nature experience with a clear connection to the area.

The Luka stream valley is home to numerous pastures and waterlogged, flower-filled meadows. Another landscape feature is Marijagoričko pobrđe: part of the Municipality of Luka lies within this Category III landscape. Part of the Pluska forest is also designated as a landscape and natural asset within the municipality. Together, these different descriptions show that the landscape is shaped by more than just the stream valley.

Church, traditions and Grad Vadina

The neo-Gothic Church of Saint Roch in Luka was completed in 1864. It is considered one of the largest religious buildings in the Zaprešić area; the church and the rectory are designated cultural assets. In Luka, Posvetilo is held on the Sunday after the feast of Saint Roch. The celebrations include evenings of entertainment in a festival tent. The 2026 Dani posvetila programme also included a traditional bicycle tour.

Earlier customs are also part of the area's history. Čehnja perja involved preparing feathers to fill pillows. Trgatva i lupatva kuruze depicted the corn harvest in the fields, its transport by horse-drawn wagons to the community centre, and workshops run by the primary school, kindergarten and all the associations. These activities offer a glimpse into different aspects of community life and agricultural work.

Grad Vadina is mentioned as early as the 16th century and was associated with the noble families Depoczi, Bušić, Ožegović, Fodroczy, Modić and Bedeković. Today, only the remains of the manor house are visible, and they are in poor condition. The remains of the former manor house in the settlement of Vadina are privately owned. On the Blue Route, a turn-off in the hamlet of Petki leads to the remains. Grad Vadina is part of the cultural heritage protected by the municipal plan; the route information does not imply that the remains are accessible.

The animals include peacocks, turkeys, ducks, geese, Japanese and domestic chickens, rabbits, horses, goats, cows, sheep, stags, hinds and mouflons. The playground has swings, a slide and seesaws.
