Luka: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the center of Luka, the new parish church of St. Roch was built after three years of consultations. The foundation stone was laid in 1860, and the church was completed in 1864. The parish church is a single-nave Gothic building and a neo-Gothic church. In 2004, it was registered as a regional cultural monument; the parish house stands next to it. St. Roch Church in Luka is considered one of the largest religious buildings in the Zaprešić area.

Festivals and Traditions

The “Posvetilo” festival dates back to the consecration of St. Roch Church on August 18, 1864, by Zagreb Bishop Josip Mihalović. After the consecration, the parish of St. Roch in Luka received the “Posvetila” festival. Pilgrims from the nearby area and further afield attend the “Posvetilo” festival.

The “Rokovski kjeden” event takes place in Luka on the occasion of the feast of St. Roch and the Rokovsko Posvetilo. It is celebrated with the traditional prošenje on the feast of St. Roch and at the Rokovsko Posvetilo. In the center of Luka, the event features a festival tent with entertainment and music as well as food and drinks. There is also a carousel and street stalls selling gingerbread hearts, toys, and other goods.

Cycling

In the Općina Luka, residents and visitors have access to a Nextbike system with public bicycles for everyday journeys.

The “Plava ruta” cycling route begins in a parking lot in the center of Luka at Trg sv. Roka and leads through West Zagorje to the Sutla Valley. After crossing the main Zaprešić–Kupljenovo–Luka road, the route continues straight back to the starting point in Luka.

The Kupljenovo–Luka–Dubravica–Marija Gorica–Pušća cycling route leads from Kupljenovo via Luka along the Zaprešić–Luka–Veliko Trgovišće road.

On this cycling route, cyclists turn right at the intersection by Buffet Pođunđek and the bus stop onto Lučka cesta, ride into the center of Luka, and turn left 200 m after St. Roch Church from the main road onto Ulica Andrije Majdaka.
