Municipality of Donji Vidovec: Gold Panning and River Landscape

Gold panning, basket weaving and the river landscape of the Mura and Drava give the Municipality of Donji Vidovec a distinctive character. The municipality lies near the confluence of the two rivers. In the centre stands a pedunculate oak known as Arpad, in front of the Church of Saint Vitus. The church and rectory together form an architectural complex and the settlement’s monumental landmark. The rectory is a late Baroque building dating from 1765 and houses an ethnographic collection of old objects. It is also home to numerous rare and protected species, including kingfishers, white-tailed eagles, black storks, otters and beavers.
