Donji Vidovec preserves a gold-panning tradition connected with the Mura, Drava and Sava rivers. The Vidovski zlatari association maintains this tradition, and gold-panning tools are exhibited in the Zlatarski dom. Donji Vidovec is also recognised as the present-day centre of gold panning in Međimurje. Visitors can experience a gold-panning demonstration on the banks of the Drava.

Townscape and Nature
In the centre of Donji Vidovec, a protected oak tree stands in front of the late Baroque parish church of St Vitus. The church dates from the 18th century; locals call the oak Arpad. Also located in the town are the Classicist statues of the Holy Trinity, dating from 1792.
Festivals and Cuisine
Donji Vidovec celebrates its municipal day every year on 15 June. Local traditional events held annually include the Festival of Folklore and Tradition Vidovo. The traditional Vidovski kotlić event on 1 May takes place near the Ribički dom in Donji Vidovec; visitors are offered free bean dishes and grilled fish there.
At the Festival of Old Gold-miners' Dishes, visitors were able to sample traditional local specialities in 2026. According to reports, the festival presents traditional dishes prepared according to old recipes.
