History and Culture

The historicist Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bunić was built in the mid-19th century on the site of an older church. It has been preserved up to the roof cornice and is being restored.

During the Ottoman period, Bunić was an important fortress. After the Ottomans withdrew in 1689, the settlement became the seat of a captaincy of the Military Frontier.

Nature

Southeast of Bunić lies Laudonov gaj, a park forest with around 470 pedunculate oaks. They were planted by the Austrian field marshal Gideon Ernst Laudon to stop the movement of the sand.
