Culture
The early Christian baptistery is preserved up to the top of its pyramid-shaped roof and is considered a rarity of late antique religious architecture. Inside, the building is octagonal, while outside it is square; a cross-shaped baptismal font has been preserved in the paving.
The remains of the early Christian basilica lie next to the parish church of Saint John the Baptist. They date from the 5th and 6th centuries.
A Benedictine monastery existed on the site of the early Christian church until around 1350. Later, a fortified tower with battlements was added above the old early Christian apse.
The history of writing is also connected with Povlja. Povaljski prag is the oldest written monument of Croatian Church Slavonic in Cyrillic script. It was carved shortly after 1184 into the door lintel of the Abbey of Saint John the Baptist in Povlja.
The Povaljska listina is one of the oldest texts written in Croatian. It is a parchment copy of a deed of ownership from the cartulary of the Benedictine monastery of Saint John the Baptist in Povlja.
Nature
Povlja has numerous bays that are used for sunbathing and swimming. The village's restaurants serve fresh fish specialities with homemade wines.

Diving is offered in Povlja as a sport and leisure activity.
The Via Brattia, a tourist circular hiking trail of approximately 140 kilometres, runs through Povlja. The trail is marked in both directions.
