Ivanovo is associated with the Ivanovo Rock-Hewn Churches complex. It contains 14th-century murals associated with the Tarnovo School of painting. The first hermit cells and churches in the complex date back to the 12th century. In 1979, the Ivanovo Rock-Hewn Churches were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Medieval Town of Cherven has a car park and signposts for visitors. There is also a car park at Orlova Chuka Cave; advance booking is required for visits because guided tours by cave speleologists are necessary.

Rusenski Lom Nature Park was established as a protected area in 1970 to preserve its characteristic landscape, biodiversity and cultural and historical heritage. The Rusenski Lom valley combines diverse terrain, a specific microclimate, rock formations and wetlands. 192 bird species have been observed in Rusenski Lom Nature Park, including 172 rare or protected species.

Suggested routes in Rusenski Lom Nature Park can be completed on foot, on horseback or by bicycle. The Nisovo–Svalenik route is 17.1 km long. Motor vehicles are prohibited in Rusenski Lom Nature Park.

Ivanovo can be reached via the Ruse–Sofia motorway, the Ruse–Dve Mogili road and the Ruse–Sofia railway line.
