Culture and History
Orlovo has an Orthodox church named St Athanasius. In the village centre, south of the town hall, there is a freestanding memorial plaque dedicated to Russian troops who camped in Orlovo.
Archaeobotanical analyses of pits at the settlement identified common wheat, rye and peas. A coin of Alexios I Komnenos, dated to 1081–1118, was found at the settlement. The most recent coin identified from the settlement is a billon aspron minted under Manuel I Komnenos between 1143 and 1180.
Shells from the southern Aegean found near Orlovo served as raw material for making jewellery.
Culture and Events
The fourth regional folklore festival “Orlovski Napevi” was announced for 18 July 2021 in Orlovo. The 2021 edition was announced to feature authentic folklore groups and soloists, dance ensembles, and groups presenting folk customs, stories and legends.
The community cultural centre “Vasil Levski 1927” organises a horo tradition in Orlovo, which began on 12 March 2017.
