Krapets: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Krapets is characterised by an approximately 7.5-kilometre-long, largely undeveloped beach with dunes. It stretches from Cape Krapets past the lagoon of Lake Durankulak towards Cape Kartalburun. Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Krapets can then continue their search for accommodation.

Nature and Coast

Krapets-North Beach lies within the two Natura 2000 protected areas BG0002050 “Durankulak Lake” and BG0000154 “Durankulak Lake”. Krapets Central and Krapets South are listed as unguarded beaches.

Lake Durankulak is a biosphere and archaeological reserve protected under the Ramsar Convention. It is a shallow, enclosed coastal lagoon occupying lower-lying areas of former river valleys. The lake is home to 17 fish species, including four globally threatened species listed in Bulgaria’s Red Book.

The Lake Durankulak reserve and the surrounding Natura 2000 area are part of the Via Pontica bird migration route. Lake Durankulak is also an important stopover for birds along this migration route. It is of international importance for the conservation of more than 260 endemic, rare and endangered plant and animal species. A total of 244 bird species have been recorded at Lake Durankulak and in the surrounding areas, including 67 listed in Bulgaria’s Red Book. The lake is also the only scientifically documented current location of wild carp in Bulgaria.

Culture and Community

Numerous Thracian burial mounds have been preserved in the area of the village of Krapets. The feature film “Three” was filmed in Krapets and on the surrounding beaches in 2011.

The Slantse 1871 community centre organises celebrations, festive events, competitions and contests as part of Krapets’ cultural and sporting life. The community centre’s activities and initiatives are aimed both at the local population and at visitors to Krapets.

Accommodation and Location

Krapets Guest House is located in the centre of Krapets, close to grocery shops, an ATM, a sports field, a market for local produce, a fresh fish shop, the village church and the library. The guesthouse is a seven-minute drive from the beach. It offers ten studios, free parking, a summer kitchen, a barbecue, a children’s playground, a pool and Wi-Fi.

Krapets Holiday is a complex of four detached, single-storey houses on the outskirts of Krapets. Krapets Holiday also provides access to a section of beach with a lifeguard, as well as options for lunch or refreshments. Guest House Emma is 50 metres from the seashore and approximately 100 metres from the pools and restaurants at Yanitsa.

Leisure and Dining

The Yanitsa complex is located on Krapets’ seafront promenade and comprises two accommodation facilities. Yanitsa 1 has a swimming pool next to the complex’s à la carte restaurant and day bar. The Yanitsa garden on the seafront promenade provides space for guests to stroll and includes a children’s corner. Yanitsa 2 has a swimming pool with a children’s area. Yanitsa offers facilities for tennis, table tennis, billiards and volleyball for sports and games.

Yanitsa’s à la carte restaurant serves fish specialities as well as Bulgarian and European dishes. The barbecue restaurant on the seafront promenade has a sea terrace and offers roast lamb, fish soup and homemade ice cream.

Getting There

Krapets is most conveniently reached by private car; daily bus services are also available from Varna and Dobrich.
