Modriča combines vibrant cultural sites with memories of different eras, regional cuisine, and nature-oriented excursion destinations. Between the city center, the Bosna River, and the landscapes of Trebava, a diverse picture emerges, shaped as much by historical sites as by events and leisure activities.

Culture

An important cultural center is the Srpski kulturni centar. It includes a city library with around 32,000 titles. Its premises also host literary evenings, public discussion events, workshops, seminars, and various presentations. The center also includes the Blue Hall, which has a capacity of 250 people.

The Turbe of Modriča stands in the city area. It is in very good condition and has a landscaped courtyard and a fence. The building is a tomb for a Turkish bey who died at the beginning of the 18th century. The Turbe is most frequently visited during Ramadan; candles are lit at its windows and in its surroundings.

Further religious and historical traces can be found in the Gospina crkva, which was built in 1889. Earthworks and the excavation of the foundations for a new church in Modriča began on September 23, 2002.

City and History

The pedestrian street Pješačka ulica runs through the center and is also called Modrički korzo. It is about 300 meters long. Along this street are various shops, craft businesses, cafés, and restaurants. Everyday city life, gastronomy, and the town's cultural institutions thus stand side by side in a confined space.

A destination with a special historical connection lies near Modriča: the old town of Dobor, with the Dobor Tower, is located on the left bank of the Bosna River, about 4 kilometers upstream from Modriča.

Nature

The Duga Njiva excursion area on Trebava is characterized by deciduous and coniferous forests, untouched drinking-water springs, and diverse flora and fauna. Constant air currents ensure clean air there. In summer, Duga Njiva is suitable for camping, excursions, walks, cycling, gathering medicinal herbs, and hunting.

The Riječani Sports and Leisure Center also offers its own natural setting. It is located in the village of Riječani Gornji, 12 kilometers from Modriča, in an ecologically preserved natural environment suitable for summer and winter leisure activities. In addition to the cultural sites in the city area, this provides activities in the wider surroundings that vary according to the season.

Culinary Experiences

Every year in May, the “Gastro Encounters” event takes place in Modriča. Its specialties include fish soup and Čorbanac, a traditional shepherd's stew. The dishes are prepared by members of local hunting and fishing associations.

Another culinary destination is the Krušik distillery. It offers organized groups tours of the distillery with tastings and lunch.

Further Destinations

For further regional options, you can also choose from Sarajevo, Dera, Laktaši, Kotor Varoš, Mišići, Dvorovi, Banja Luka and Ljubina.
