Discover Sprimont through its stone heritage and landscape. The Centre d’Interprétation de la Pierre is located in the former power station of the quarries; several trails explore the stone industry or lead to views across different landscapes. There are also historic traces spanning widely separated periods. This gives you a choice of themes when planning your trip, rather than a single must-do itinerary: stone and its uses, local history or landscape impressions can take centre stage. This is useful if you are travelling with people who have different interests and do not want every day to follow the same pattern.

Stone as a Cultural and Historical Theme

The Centre d’Interprétation de la Pierre is devoted to stone and is located in the former power station of the quarries. The Centre also has a sculpture park, which complements the theme of stone with sculpture. The Festival de Sculpture sur Pierre in Sprimont also adds an artistic touch and takes place every year. Another link to industrial history is the Chemin de Fer de Sprimont, which runs along part of the former Poulseur–Sprimont–Trooz local railway line. The Église Saint-Martin has been mentioned since 760. This date refers to an early mention, not the year the church was built. The archaeological site of Belle Roche in Sprimont is also on the protected-sites list.

Three Routes, Three Perspectives

The trails differ in their focus. The Sprimont P15 hike starts at the Musée de la Pierre and leads to former quarries. It offers insights into Petit Granit and its uses. This brings the former quarries and the material itself into focus together.

The Promenade des Trois Paysages (Sprimont P01) offers views across the Condroz, Pays de Herve, the Ardennes and the Eifel. It leads to the Chantoir de Béronri, combining landscape views with a clearly named destination on the same route. Sprimont – Promenade 2 offers another variation: this circular route passes through a village with old houses built from local stone.

There is a clear difference when choosing a walk: P15 focuses on quarries and Petit Granit, P01 on views of four landscapes and the Chantoir de Béronri, and Promenade 2 on old houses built from local stone.

Plan Your Stay Around Your Interests

For families or travel groups with different interests, this comparison is a practical starting point: some travellers may be especially interested in where stone comes from and how it is used, while others may prefer landscapes or architectural history. You can choose an outing based on these interests instead of judging every route by the same expectations. If you are looking for a holiday rental in Sprimont, it helps to think in advance about which themes you would like to include in your holiday plans. This makes your search part of your trip planning and helps you find a stay suited to the kind of holiday you want.
