A hike in the Holzwarche Valley near Büllingen leads through a Natagora reserve with upland landscapes and meadows where alpine fennel and greater knapweed grow.

In spring, yellow wild daffodils transform the stream valleys of the nature reserve along the daffodil trail into a sea of flowers. At the start, the GR 56 runs near Honsfeld along a former railway line that has been converted into the RAVeL cycle path. For families who want to discover something together along the way, the Hedge Experience Trail offers an approximately 2 km section entitled “Animals of the Hedges”. Interactive panels explain the animal life, and there is also a quiz along the route.

The Büllingen Arboretum can be explored by bicycle or on foot. Along the route, information panels provide details about regional deciduous trees and shrubs planted there. Depending on your preferred pace for the day, you can use this to plan a longer tour, a themed walk or an excursion with several nature stations.

History, cultural routes and regional impressions

The Hasselpath Memorial combines an 800 m hiking trail with nine information panels about wartime trenches. Preserved earth bunkers, combat positions and field hospitals bear witness to the events of that time. The cultural routes of Hünningen have a different focus: over a total distance of 11 km, 29 display panels provide interesting information about rural life, crafts, quarries and the history of the trails.

Another cultural destination is the “Ardenner Cultur Boulevard”, a museum complex in Hergersberg on the German-Belgian border near Losheim/Manderfeld. The Eifel Domaine brewery is another regional speciality. There, aromatically balanced beers are brewed according to a traditional craft recipe using water from the Ardennes. Nature, history and regional products can thus be combined into different daily itineraries, without every holiday day having to follow the same pattern.
