Destelbergen combines a varied cultural landscape with the natural surroundings of Damvallei. Kasteeldomein Succa, formerly also known as Goet Ter Saelen, covers 17 hectares with a park, woodland and avenues. This combination of landscaped areas and wooded sections gives the castle landscape its own character. The name “Goet Ter Saelen” is its former designation and should therefore be taken into account when searching for historical information.

Another side of the town is revealed by Damvallei. It is part of the Natura 2000 network. The paths of Damvallei are freely accessible all year round; the Damvalleimeerpad is partially suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. This specific limitation is particularly important when planning for different needs: the Damvalleimeerpad is not equally suitable along its entire route. Pilgrimage Site and Sacred History

A pilgrimage takes place once a year at Bergenkruis on Ascension Day. Hundreds of believers take part and attend open-air services. The pilgrimage site also has fourteen Stations of the Cross depicted as half-relief sculptures from 1898, signed by J. De Visscher. The Parochiekerk Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ter Sneeuw is also part of Destelbergen’s historical landmarks. It was opened on 27 November 1785 after construction had been completed on 9 October 1785.
