Landscape and the highest point in Belarus

Museum and churches in Dzerzhinsk

The State Historical and Local Lore Museum of Dzerzhinskiy District is located in Dzerzhinsk. It was established to preserve and promote the district’s cultural heritage. The Wankowicz family estate was established at the beginning of the 20th century, along with a park and ponds that have been preserved to this day; restoration work is under way at the site.

These places tell different chapters of local history: the mill dates to the early 19th century, the manor house to the following century, and the Wankowicz estate to the beginning of the 20th century. A route is also named here: the Southern Route of the “Road of Silence” leads to the Wankowicz estate in Volma. Stankovo: nature and military history

The Stankovo Ecotourism Centre includes the military history complexes “Partisan Camp” and “Minsk Fortified Area”. At “Partisan Camp”, trails pass through partisan paths and reconstructed areas of the camp. Near the complex stands a natural monument oak known as “Forest Guard”, which is more than 500 years old. The natural monument and the camp complex offer different points of interest: an individual ancient tree on the one hand, and the military history site on the other.

The centre also has a zoo. A description from 2015 states that it is home to more than 40 species of birds and mammals. A footpath runs along the edge of the zoo for observing the animals kept there. Check the current access arrangements for “Partisan Camp” before visiting.
