Hiking trails for short and longer excursions

The Münzbach Energy Trail is a circular trail approximately 2.4 km long. At interactive stations, visitors can discover energy in a playful, vivid and hands-on way using all their senses. The stations focus on various forms of sustainable energy generation. The trail starts and ends at the Münzbach sports field, Arbinger Straße 40, 4323 Münzbach. Those travelling with children can include a particularly vivid introduction to a subject in their itinerary without having to plan a long hike.

The Trail of the Senses offers two different lengths. The shorter version can be completed in approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. This allows the route to be adapted to the desired daily rhythm. The trail follows the Taferlweg, passes the Meier-Teich biotope not far from the Trail of the Senses Park, and continues to the protected Koppler Föhre, a landmark of Münzbach. From there, there is a far-reaching view across Münzbach, from the Ötscher to the Traunstein and into the Mühlviertel.

Nature experiences near the village centre

Another striking feature is Felsenruhe, not far from the village centre. The site serves as a resting place and a special place of energy; there, visitors can experience pillow weathering at close range. This location adds a geological feature to the circular trails and is suitable as an independent destination within a varied day.

Cultural hiking trails with regional history

The Enzmilner Cultural Hiking Trail presents the rich history of Windhaag, Altenburg and Münzbach at 50 stations. The main route of the Enzmilner Cultural Hiking Trail is 12.8 km long and leads via Windhaag, the ruins, the Siebenkirchenblick viewpoint, Münzbach, Altenburg and the wildlife enclosure back to Windhaag. The J. Enzmilner Hiking Trail leads from Windhaag bei Perg through the village of Altenburg to Münzbach and back to Windhaag. Those interested in history who plan a longer day of hiking can incorporate several places and stations into their own itinerary.

The starting points help with planning your day. The M1 – Great Circular Hiking Trail starts and ends at Münzbach's new market square. There is an information board with information material there, and hikers can park their cars. The Energy Trail, by contrast, starts at the sports field on Arbinger Straße.

Münzbach can be reached by the Westbahn via Linz and then by the Donauuferbahn to Perg; from there, continue to Münzbach by bus or taxi. This allows you to plan your journey using train connections and onward travel from Perg.
