Discover Krumpendorf: Water, Trails and Culture
Krumpendorf combines a variety of water-based experiences with marked trails, distinctive natural formations and a diverse cultural programme. When planning your trip, it is worth considering first whether you would prefer to spend your days by the water, on short walks, on longer tours or at events. The range of options makes it easier to choose a holiday apartment or holiday home that suits your personal daily rhythm.
Water-based experiences at Parkbad
At Parkbad Krumpendorf, you can expect large sunbathing lawns with mature trees and numerous opportunities for active and relaxing hours. The facilities include a bocce court, a beach volleyball court, a swimming island, a water trampoline, a water volleyball court and a diving tower. Table tennis, a children’s playground, as well as a children’s and non-swimmer area round out the amenities. There are 100-metre swimming lanes in the lake. Free Wi-Fi and accessibility are also among the facilities listed for Parkbad.
Water sports can also be incorporated into your daily plans there: the “SEEsport” water sports school at Parkbad Krumpendorf rents out SUPs, kayaks, pedal boats and deluxe electric boats. Parkbad also offers yoga, archery and aqua gymnastics with professional instructors. Those travelling with children or wishing to combine different interests within a group will find several clearly distinct activities in one place, without every day of the holiday having to look the same.
Trails for short and longer tours
The Krumpendorf long-distance hiking trail is 16.20 km long. It starts at Parkbad in the direction of Leinsdorf, leads through the forest to Aussicht West and continues to the Pirkerkogel at an altitude of 663 m. It then runs via Wirtnigteich, Nußberg and Görtschach back to the starting point. This route offers an extensive hiking loop with several named waypoints and is suitable for anyone who would like to get to know Krumpendorf on a longer day trip.
A more compact alternative is the easy 6.7 km Schlosswanderung, which takes 150 minutes. It begins at the tourist information office, leads along the Höhenweg to Aussicht Suezecke, continues to Hornstein Castle and Drasing Castle, and then returns to Krumpendorf via the Almweg and Lannerweg. On the main road, the route passes Krumpendorf Castle. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore already consider whether a longer loop or a manageable hike better suits your trip planning.
Nature, exercise and culture
Krumpendorf’s geological features include two well-developed glacial potholes: one is located in Pritschitz (G5), and another in the forest in the direction of Görtschach (I3). The 600-metre-long Yolates Trail in the Waldarena combines elements of yoga, Pilates, exercises from the Far East and meditation. For mountain bike tours, there is the marked Krumpendorf panoramic loop, a circular route starting at Parkbad.
Those who prefer travelling on foot can plan a walk from the boat landing along Pamperlallee, past Parkbad, via the Wasserweg in the direction of Pirk and onwards to the Pirkerkogel. In addition, KulturKlima Krumpendorf offers concerts in various musical genres. The Krumpendorf summer market takes place every year from mid-May to the end of August, on Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., in the area around Rathauswiese and Schlossallee.
Other places for planning your trip
If you would like to compare Krumpendorf with other places, you can expand your search to include Plescherken, Poggersdorf, Maria Wörth, Lipizach, Grafenstein, Treffelsdorf, Schiefling Am See and Keutschach Am See. For Krumpendorf itself, choosing the right holiday apartment is particularly helpful if you decide on your preferred water, hiking, cycling or cultural activities before booking.
