The coast of Spille Beach is approximately 15.5 km long. Spille is a long, sandy beach with fine sand, surrounded by pine forests. The beach is known for its very clean water and very clean sand, as well as its considerable width. This creates a combination of an expansive beach landscape, fine sand and surrounding pine forests on the Albanian Adriatic coast.

Coast and beach

The shallow water at Spille Beach makes it suitable for children. Swimming and various games in the sand are among the activities visitors enjoy at the beach. Summer camps and activities for children are also frequently organised there. Shallow water, fine sand and the beach’s considerable width are therefore among its defining features.

Nature and landscape

The landscape around Spille is also diverse beyond the beach. The Kodra e Bixherit peak is located in the vicinity of Spille. The surrounding area also includes Plazhi i Divjakës Beach, Kepi i Lagjit Cape and Maja e Fangut peak. These different landscape features therefore range from another beach and a cape to peaks in the area around Spille.

The spring known as “The Spring” is located approximately 1 km east of the centre of Spille village. It is a natural water spring as well as a tourist attraction. The path to the spring offers views of the valley and the slopes of the surrounding hills. Hiking in Spille’s pine forest among dense trees and low vegetation, chirping birds and various butterflies is considered a relaxing experience.

Hiking and cycling

The “Path of Lakes” route begins at Spille Beach and heads eastwards over gentle hills reaching elevations of up to 190 m. Five artificial lakes lie along the route during the ascent. The “Pines’ Route” is 22 km long; including all stops, the walking time is 6–8 hours. It leads from Bashtova Castle near the villages of Rreth-Greth and Greth i Mesëm towards Spille, then southwards along the coast of Spille Beach into the pine massif.

By bicycle, the “Venetian Route” runs over the gentle hills west of Kavaja and along the coast of Spille on the Adriatic Sea. In addition to beach activities, this provides routes through hilly landscapes, past artificial lakes and along the Adriatic coast in the surrounding area.
