Holiday apartment in Ibe: Cave, Erzen and history

Ibe and the nearby Pëllumbas Cave combine natural surroundings with a long human history. The cave contains traces of human culture dating from the Palaeolithic to the Middle Ages. It is approximately 360 metres deep and contains stalagmites and stalactites. Thus, temporal depth and visible cave formations come together in one nearby location.

Culture and history

The Ibë–Petrelë–Pezë–Ndroq historic axis is designated as a historic site. On 15 November 1944, the attacking XVII, IV, VIII and XV Brigades encircled the group near Ibë and Mushqeta and almost completely destroyed it. The “Steyrer” group descended in Ibë and Mushqeta. This connects both a named historic axis and a specific event with the locations of Ibë and Mushqeta.

Nature and trails

The nearby gorges of the Erzen contain three springs, two of which have sulphur-mineral water. Pools beneath waterfalls are used there in summer for swimming and exploring the riverbanks. Those travelling along the road towards Elbasan to the Pëllumbas Cave turn left in the village of Ibë and then continue to the cave. Access to the Black Cave of Pëllumbas includes a 2 km walk along a path.

Connections

Ibë is mentioned in a planned network of cycling and nature trails intended to connect natural and historic areas. A planned tourism corridor runs from Cape Rodonit via Prezë, Vorë, Kuç, Ndroq, Petrelë and Priskë to Ibë. Both plans name Ibë as a location within larger connecting axes, without changing their planned status.

Parks and leisure

An amphitheatre is the central feature of Teatër Park Kame. Resort Theater Park Kame is located in the village of Ibë on the banks of the Erzen River. Visitors can play golf on the wide field in front of Resort Theater Park Kame. After the performance, invited guests can enjoy traditional food.

Flumen Park has a football pitch as well as green spaces and riverside areas where games and other entertaining activities can take place. Flumen Park offers a play area for children up to five years old and a play area for children aged six and over, with two table tennis tables, teqball, ball bowling and other games.
