Landscape

Vermosh is an Alpine village with extensive pastures, forests and rivers. A natural attraction in the Albanian Alps is Vermosh Canyon, also known as the “Canyon of the Union”. It is formed by the confluence of the Vermosh and Lepushe rivers. The canyon is accessible year-round and is suitable for hiking.

Hiking

The “Gropat e Selcë – Perdelecit Vermosh” hiking trail is 25,715.96 metres long and takes 5 hours and 30 minutes. It is located in Shkodra District and the Albanian Alps National Park. The selection of trails therefore ranges from one individual route specified by length and duration to four additional trails with their own names and defined sequences of locations. Three of these trails are circular routes returning to their respective starting points; the fourth follows a simple sequence of start, intermediate point and destination. The four additional trails follow their own clearly named routes: the “Trail of the Forest” (Shtegu i pyllit) is a circular route from the centre of Vermosh to Skrapatush and back to the centre of Vermosh. The “Trail of Kërshi i Djegur” (Shtegu i Kërshit të Djegur) is a circular route from Vermosh Bashkim via Qafa e Kujtë and Kërshi i Djegur back to Vermosh Bashkim. The “Red Water Trail” (Shtegu i ujit të kuq) is a circular route from the centre of Vermosh via Varri i Memit, Qafa e Mojanit, Zabel, Lugu i ujit, Varri i Memit again and Vermosh Velipoja back to the centre of Vermosh. The “Canyon Trail” (Shtegu i kanionit) leads from Vermosh Bashkim via Ujëvara to Kanion.

Activities

Vermosh is suitable for hiking, mountain biking and camping.

Getting there

From Shkodra, the route leads via Koplik and Bajza; instead of crossing the border to the left, follow the SH20 towards Lepushë and Vermosh.

Culture and cuisine

Cultural activities are organised in Vermosh during the summer to promote the heritage of Kelmendi. Mishavinë is a distinctive cheese made from sheep’s and cow’s milk, produced mainly in Lepushë and Vermosh.

Accommodation

On the respective offer page, check the exact location, type of accommodation, permitted occupancy and services included in the price. Price components as well as the booking and cancellation conditions may also be listed differently from one offer to another. Compare these fields directly with one another and take into account only features that are actually stated. This avoids assumptions about amenities, location or suitability. Before completing the booking, it is also worth checking the selected period and the number of travellers. In addition, you can check whether the occupancy suits your own travel group and whether all intended guests are included in the offer. The page should present these points clearly and without contradictions.
