Razëm combines mountain landscapes with karst terrain. The tourist zone extends across a karst plateau, while beech and pine forests, as well as lush pine and fir forests, shape the landscape. At the same time, Razëm is part of the official Shkodër–Vermosh–Razëm–Bogë–Valbonë travel route. Those considering a holiday apartment in Razëm will therefore find a place whose character is defined by nature, mountains and karst terrain.

Nature

Razëm lies within the protected area of Shkrel Municipal Nature Park. The prominent geological formations include the Razëm moraines. These are Quaternary glacial deposits that form hills 50 to 80 metres high, with karst dolines and karst-related depressions. The karst terrain of Razëm also includes dolines, karst shafts and karst caves in the fields of Razma, Troshani and Fusha e Zezë.

North of Razëm, the Veleçik ridge reaches an elevation of 1,724 metres. Together with Kunora, it is one of the distinctive landscapes of tourist value for mountaineering and picnics. The forests also give the area a distinct landscape character: In addition to beech and pine forests, Razëm has lush pine and fir forests that surround the town.

Activities

Razëm offers opportunities for hiking as well as winter activities. Popular activities include mountaineering, skiing and camping under the starry sky. In winter, there are opportunities for skiing, particularly in Fusha e Zezë. In the Razëm area, visitors can also cycle and go horse riding.

The caves in the area also offer different dimensions. Exploring the Veleçik summit cave begins with a 28-metre-deep vertical descent. The Lugjet Cave has a total length of 79 metres. It should be distinguished from the Lugjet Gorge, which can be visited by amateurs and occasional visitors. The Veleçik summit cave, the Lugjet Cave and the Lugjet Gorge are distinct from one another.

Culture and Cuisine

Razëm’s ethnographic heritage includes the Xhubleta, worn by women and girls. Cultural traditions also include traditional songs accompanied by the lahuta. These elements complement the natural experiences with an insight into the region’s traditional forms of expression.

The local cuisine is also connected to the mountain region. In Razëm, visitors can enjoy a lunch featuring organic products characteristic of the mountain region.

Getting Around Razëm

The Razëm moraines are accessed via the rural Koplik–Dedaj–Razëm road. Razëm is considered accessible year-round, including during the winter season. For routes through the village or to the three caves, the younger brother of the operator of a guesthouse guides tourists through the area.
