Qeparo is a place marked by a distinct transition between the coast and old settlement areas. The road from the coast to old Qeparo climbs up the hill. This creates a clear spatial relationship between the coastal area and the village. At the same time, the character of the individual areas remains distinguishable: the coast forms the starting point, while old Qeparo is a settlement area at a higher elevation. This sequence makes Qeparo legible as a place and keeps the two areas clearly separate.

Coast

Qeparoi Beach is a small beach known for its blue water. Qeparoi Beach is mainly used for recreation. Its character arises from the combination of its limited size, striking water color, and predominantly recreational purpose. In this way, the coastal spot remains clearly defined in its essential features and has its own understated presence within Qeparo.

Culture

Old Qeparo consists of stone houses and narrow lanes that preserve traditional elements. The impression arises from the interplay of the house forms, the confined street space, and the details preserved in this townscape. Upper Qeparo features stone-paved streets and old churches. The paved paths and the churches together form part of its built appearance. The Monastery of Saint Demetrius is located in lower Qeparo. It was built in its most complete form around 1730. The three named areas thus lead through different forms of built heritage and show Qeparo not only as a coastal town, but also as a settlement with various architectural layers.

History

The Ali Pasha Tower, also known as Vlashaj Tower, is located in Qeparo approximately 1 km north of the village. It is distinguished by characteristic stone surrounds with arcade motifs. The two names and the stone design give the tower a distinctive profile. Karos Castle belongs to an advanced phase of the prehistoric settlements of Kaonia. It is considered a 3,000-year-old castle with five rows of walls. At Karos, a chronological classification therefore stands alongside a clearly defined wall structure.
