Holiday apartment in Visokë: olive oil, hazelnut plantation and geomonument
An unusual way to approach Visokë is through the agricultural side of the place. Bylis Olive Oil is an olive oil producer based in Visokë, Fier, and operates a modern olive oil processing facility. Seasonal processing there amounts to approximately 150,000 to 200,000 litres. A hundred-year-old hazelnut plantation is also located near the Gjanica River in Visokë. It covers 11 dynym of land planted with hazelnut and fruit trees. The Albanian hazelnut “Visoka” gave the village of Visokë its name.
Landscape
The geological and topographical side of Visokë is reflected in the oilfield. The Visokë oilfield lies in Cretaceous–Paleogene deposits and in moderately hilly terrain with no pronounced relief. Elevations range from 65 to 270 metres. Its originally productive area covered 2,200 hectares. The Albanian Geological Survey lists the Visokë oilfield as a local mineralogical geomonument.
Culture and history
The history of the place is also connected with the oilfield. In 1988, a building in Visokë covered with slogans served as the headquarters of the Visokë oilfield. In the wider Visokë region, in the village of Cfir in Mallakastër (Fier County), there is a medieval stone fortification known as Cfir Castle.
Region
The discharge of technological water and oil leaks during the loading of tanker trucks have been documented at the Visokë oilfield. This section of road forms part of the road axis connecting Fier with Patos and Ballsh.
Accommodation
When choosing a holiday apartment in Visokë, you can first check the exact location, accommodation type and occupancy on the respective listing page. Other relevant points include the included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions. When comparing several listings, you can compare these points directly. Check the details for the specific travel period and the intended number of guests before making your decision. It is also worth checking which services are already included and which are charged separately. This ensures that your choice of accommodation is based on the specific features shown for the respective listing. If different numbers of guests or periods are available, you should check the values displayed for each option rather than assuming a general rule. What matters is the specific status of the listing page at the time of your decision. If several options are shown, it is also worth checking whether final cleaning, taxes or other price components are already included in the total amount. Also check whether the conditions for the specific period are displayed in full and whether changes or cancellations are subject to separate deadlines and fees. In addition, you can check which payment method, advance payment or deadline is stated for the selected option and whether this information is shown together with the total amount. If necessary, compare several specific options using the same fields and do not transfer values from another period or occupancy. The decisive factor remains the option currently displayed.
