Aramus: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Aramus can then continue their accommodation search. At the western entrance to Aramus lies Aramus Fortress, a Cyclopean/Urartian fortress. According to radiocarbon evidence, it was in use from the middle of the 9th to the end of the 4th century BC; the most intensive period of use falls between the 7th and 5th centuries BC.

Culture

Aramus Fortress has yielded archaeological evidence, including pottery, worked obsidian associated with the production of stone tools in the Iron Age, a cult stele made of red tuff, as well as bronze and iron weapons and jewellery.

The fortress occupies an elongated ridge approximately 400 metres long and 300 metres wide, rising about 50 metres above the surrounding area; the complex covers approximately 10 hectares.

Visitors can explore the remains of the fortress. These include comparatively well-preserved walls and entrance gates, recognisable internal structures in the West Fort and Central Fort, as well as elongated terraces on the slopes of the Central Fort.

Yerkrord Ashkharhamartum Zohvatsneri and Hovhannes Surb are located near Aramus. Andzav is also located near Aramus. The surrounding area of Aramus includes Razvaliny Mangyuz, Ogyats’ Dzori, Arji Bun and Chgnavori.
