Serra Negra can be explored from different perspectives: a cable car ride takes you to a peak with sweeping views, gardens and parks offer their own highlights, and coffee and cachaça are among the region’s special culinary experiences. If you’re looking for a vacation rental, it helps to first consider whether views, nature, culture or culinary discoveries will be the focus of your trip.

Views from the Peak and the Lookout Point

The Teleférico travels from the town center to a 1,000-meter-high peak in ten minutes. From there, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire region. The ride and the destination together make for a special outing: you set off from the center and reach an elevated viewpoint. If you want to make the views the main focus of the day, you can plan your visit accordingly.

Another view across the region can be enjoyed at Alto da Serra. The lookout point is at an elevation of 1,310 meters, with panoramic views extending across ten cities in the region. The two viewing experiences differ in their specific elevations and the extent of the views described. When planning your trip, you can decide whether you’d like to take a ten-minute cable car ride to a peak or visit the Alto da Serra lookout point.

Flowers, Native Vegetation and Moments in the Park

At Vitrine das Flores Park, flowers and a variety of garden areas take center stage. Visitors can see more than 44 international rose varieties, an area for succulents and designated photo spots. There is also a seasonal sunflower field. These different features give your visit a range of possible focuses: you can admire the roses and succulents or include the photo spots and seasonal field in your outing plans.

Parque Fonte Santo Agostinho e Santa Luzia combines several natural and recreational features: the park includes a grove of native vegetation, a lake with fish, a bandstand and a playground. If you’re traveling with children, you can make the playground a stop of its own; if you want to focus on nature and water, there are plenty of specific things to discover there, too. In the municipality, Bioparque Serra Negra covers 28 hectares of native vegetation and interpretive trails. These trails add an opportunity to learn about the vegetation to the nature experience.

Coffee and Regional Flavors

At Café Santa Serra, visitors can take a guided tour of Sítio Santa Rosa. They learn about the stages of coffee production and different bean varieties; drying, roasting and grinding are also part of the tour. Afterwards, they can taste the coffee. This experience is ideal for anyone who wants not only to try a cup of coffee but also to learn about the individual processing stages.

Empório do Vale offers visitors espresso as well as traditional and aged cachaça produced on the estate. There are also handcrafted liqueurs to taste, with coffee, cappuccino, chocolate and seasonal fruit flavors. The selection showcases a range of flavors and offers another way to discover Serra Negra through local products.

History and Choosing Your Accommodation

Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosário also tells part of the town’s history: it was inaugurated on November 12, 1916, after thirteen years of construction. Together with the nature and culinary experiences, this historic landmark shows the different ways you can spend your days. When searching for a vacation rental, you can use the focus of your trip as a guide. If being near a central landmark is important to you, the Teleférico is in the town center next to the bus station; base your search on the location you prefer for your stay.
