Cabreúva: Temple, Serra do Japi and regional products
Accommodation in Cabreúva
A world-record superlative sets Cabreúva apart: the Templo de Cabreúva is the world’s largest Templo Pela Paz Mundial and is located at the Centro de Meditação Kadampa Brasil. Together with its hilly landscape, the Mata Atlântica and the region’s products, the area offers a range of ways to spend your stay—from culture and nature to regional cuisine.
Cabreúva’s Temple and History
The Museu de Cabreúva Lucy Ciola tells the story of the city through objects from its collection, displayed in the exhibition rooms. The museum opened on September 15, 2025. The building itself is also part of the city’s history: it is part of the historic architectural ensemble in the city center and is considered tangible cultural heritage.
Another place to visit is the Matriz Nossa Senhora da Piedade. It is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m. If you are interested in different aspects of cultural life, you can include this church and the museum as separate stops in your plans.
Landscape, Views and Routes
The Estrada dos Romeiros is used for cycling and motorcycling. Along the road, the Tietê lies on one side, while the biodiverse Mata Atlântica, with its varied plant and animal life, lies on the other. The Mirante da Boa Esperança offers views of Cabreúva’s hills and mountain ranges. This gives visitors both a route through river and forest landscapes and a viewpoint overlooking the surrounding area.
The section of SP-312 between Cabreúva and Itu is also called Estrada Parque. In the municipality of Cabreúva, the APA Cabreúva was established in 1984 to protect the mountain massif known as Serra do Japi. The protected area was later expanded to parts of Indaiatuba, Itu and Salto, also to protect the sources of important waterways.
Fazenda Guaxinduva is also located in the municipality. The Guaxinduva Valley is surrounded by waterfalls, streams and viewpoints, from which visitors can take in the vast Japi protected area. The fazenda welcomes visitors on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Day use is available from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Cabreúva’s nature and landscape highlights therefore include both protected mountain scenery and waterways and viewpoints.
Regional Cuisine and Products
Café pela Paz Mundial serves vegetarian specialties with views of the temple and Serra do Japi. Visitors who want to discover regional products can find a variety of examples in the municipality: Alambique Rainha da Praia, formerly Cachaça Formosa, makes artisanal cachaça, liqueurs, sweets and molasses. Lunch is also served at its kiosk by the lake on weekends and public holidays.
Vilela has been making cachaça since 1969. Its selection includes Jequitibá, which won a gold medal at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2022 and another in Treviso in 2023. Vilela is considered a special attraction and can be reached by an unpaved road.
The Pé do Morro project is also located on a small rural property in Cabreúva, on Serra do Japi. It produces organic, natural cheeses, wine and olive oil. Reservations are required for visits on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
