Boa Vista combines spacious areas for sports and recreation with views, culture and regional cuisine. You can choose from outdoor activities, a visit to the theater and special insights into the city’s history. When planning your stay, it’s worth first considering which of these sides of Boa Vista you want to shape your trip.

Open spaces for sports and shared activities

Complexo Ayrton Senna is an outdoor area for recreation and sports. Activities include running, tennis, skateboarding and volleyball; there are also playgrounds. Fountains and a reflecting pool add to the complex. Food stalls are also available. This means you’ll find a range of activities and places to spend time here, without your visit being limited to a single sport.

Parque Germano Augusto Sampaio also offers a variety of features: volleyball and soccer courts sit alongside BMX and skate tracks. There is also an amphitheater, green spaces, a lagoon, a pier and a promenade. Food stalls and parking are also available. If you’d prefer an outing where you can choose between exercise, green spaces and time by the lagoon, this combination is a reason in itself to include the park in your travel plans.

Parque do Rio Branco has spacious areas for recreation and sports, as well as a bicycle parking area. Other features include fountains and a reflecting pool. There is also an urban beach along the Rio Branco. Orla Taumanan is connected to Parque do Rio Branco and consists of two platforms with kiosks: the lower Weikepá platform has three kiosks, while the upper Meiremê platform has two more.

Nature, views and a weekend market

Bosque dos Papagaios is dedicated to protecting and preserving Amazonian biodiversity. Visitors can ride bicycles along its paths. Its varying schedule is important when planning your outing: Tuesday through Friday, the park is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on public holidays and days when it is closed. On Saturdays and Sundays, it is open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Mirante Edileusa Loz opened in 2020. The observation point is 120 meters high and is considered the tallest in Boa Vista and the Northern Region. The Feirinha de Artesanato e Gastronomia takes place in front of Mirante Edileusa Lóz every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the year. You can plan a visit to the observation point and a market visit as separate activities; the market offers the chance to discover local handicrafts and cuisine.

Praça do Mirandinha is an option for a picnic, a celebration or taking photos. The green space also has sports courts and kiosks. Its range of uses makes it a different kind of place to spend time than areas whose main features are sports tracks or an observation point.

Culture and city history

Teatro Municipal de Boa Vista has three modern halls. Its program includes events for all audiences, including operas, plays and musicals. If you’d like to add a cultural evening to your trip, the theater offers a variety of performing arts.

Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is a historic landmark in Boa Vista and the only church built in the Amazon region in the Germanic style. In the historic center, at Rua Floriano Peixoto, a building now houses the city administration’s Centro de Informações Turísticas. It is dedicated to tourism and regional culture and art.

If you’d like to discover more destinations, you’ll also find Cariri and Sao Jorge here.
