Caraúbas: Culture, Festivals and Agricultural Shows
Accommodation in Caraúbas
Caraúbas has many sides: cultural venues, religious festivals and agricultural shows each give a stay its own focus. A striking example of how a place can change is the former railway station, now used as the Casa de Cultura. Anyone who wants to get to know Caraúbas through its culture and local traditions will find a concrete starting point here for further exploration.
Cultural Venues and City Life
The Casarões in the city center are among the town’s tourism assets. The Igreja de São Sebastião and the Casa do Sabe Muito are also considered tourism assets. These places reflect different points of interest in Caraúbas: the Casarões in the urban setting, the Igreja as a religious landmark, and the Casa do Sabe Muito as another named site.
Festivals with Different Focal Points
The Festa de São Sebastião combines religious and cultural events with a large festival program. More than 30 confirmed events were planned over 11 days for the 2026 edition. These included religious and cultural events as well as major shows at Praça de Eventos.
The 2025 edition is also part of the town’s festival history: the 18th Festa de São Sebastião was a traditional event featuring religious, cultural and tourism-related performances. The opening of Arraiá das Caraubeiras is traditionally marked by a large parade of floats through the town. These examples show different ways of celebrating in Caraúbas, without combining them into a single festival program.
Expoeste and Regional Cuisine
The 8th Expoeste was considered one of the largest agricultural fairs in northeastern Brazil and the biggest edition ever held in Caraúbas. It also offered a first-hand look at different cattle breeds and exhibitions: the fair hosted a Brazilian exhibition of the Santa Inês breed and a northeastern Brazilian exhibition of the Boer breed. Gir Leiteiro and Sindi also took part in exhibitions that counted toward the national rankings. Anyone interested in agriculture and livestock breeding will find a different way to experience Caraúbas here than at its religious or cultural festivals.
A Concurso Culinário Chica da Esquina was planned alongside the Expoeste 2026 celebrations. Its aim was to promote regional cuisine and revive traditional cooking. This planned competition therefore focused on food and culinary tradition, while the agricultural fair covered other regional topics.
When to Visit and Where to Stay
The 8th Expoeste offers a specific accommodation-related consideration: during the fair, accommodation in Caraúbas reached full capacity. Visitors came from several regions of Rio Grande do Norte and from other states. If Expoeste is the reason for your trip, the fair dates are therefore an important factor when choosing where to stay.
