Araucária reveals different sides of itself in specific places: historic architecture and photography sit alongside a lakeside walk, a tour of family-run farms and regional cuisine. You can shape your trip according to whether you are particularly interested in history, outdoor experiences or local traditions.

Architecture, history and photography

Casa do Cavalo Baio is one of the rare surviving examples of 19th-century architecture in Araucária. The building was constructed around 1870 and listed as a heritage site by the state of Paraná on December 26, 1978. It preserves traditional construction features. Its date of construction, preserved architecture and protected status each give the house a distinct historical significance: it is both an example of an older style of construction and a protected building.

The history of the Museu Tingüi-Cuera is also marked by several milestones. It opened on February 11, 1980, in the building of the former Companhia São Patrício and was moved in 1982 to the former facilities of Indústria Torres.

Photography offers another way to explore the past: the Memorial da Imigração Polonesa displays photographs by Thomaz Coelho from the early 20th century as well as photographs by João Urban from the 1980s. These two time periods are clearly distinct. Those interested in photographic records will find material here from two different eras, while Casa do Cavalo Baio and the museum’s history highlight other aspects of Araucária’s past.

At Araucária’s central square, the Santuário Nossa Senhora dos Remédios is the main attraction. Alongside historic buildings and photographic glimpses, this adds a place shaped by religion. When choosing what to visit, you can take different interests into account rather than approaching all cultural themes in the same way.

Lakeside walks, rural tours and São Miguel

At Parque da Cachoeira, you can stroll along the lake. Aldeia da Solidariedade is another noteworthy place in the park. Both are good reasons to keep the park in mind when planning your stay; the walk and the additional place of interest offer different ways to visit.

Turismo Rural Rotas de Guajuvira offers a different perspective, with tours of family-run farms. The focus here is not historic architecture, but getting to know farms in a rural setting. If you want to plan your time in Araucária around specific themes, you can treat these tours as a distinct focus alongside your interest in museums and photography.

A tour of the São Miguel district ends at the Capela de São Miguel. There is also a viewpoint in the São Miguel area with a lovely view of the Represa de Passaúna. You can decide whether to include a tour or the viewpoint in your travel plans.

A traditional dish

Pirogue is one of Araucária’s traditional dishes. This culinary specialty adds to the cultural and scenic experiences the town has to offer.

When choosing a holiday apartment, you can take into account which sights interest you most.
