Japaratinga is part of the Costa dos Corais and combines about 12 km of quiet beaches with experiences at natural pools and in the water. There are also buggy rides, diving and sea turtle watching. When planning your vacation, you can weigh up relaxing beach days, nature watching and more active pursuits.

Beaches, Nature and Special Views

The roughly twelve kilometers of beaches give Japaratinga a distinctive coastal character. Praia do Salgado is one of the town’s main attractions. The meeting of the Rio Manguaba and the sea is also a major draw. Viewpoints add to these experiences and offer another way to take in the surrounding area.

If quiet stretches of beach are important to you, the approximate total length of the beaches provides a helpful first impression of Japaratinga. However, it does not tell you which individual stretch will suit your preferences. So consider whether you mainly want to spend your trip at the beach or would rather focus on a variety of nature and water experiences. Sea turtle watching is also among the listed attractions.

Water Experiences with Different Rules

Japaratinga offers diving and experiences at natural pools. If you are planning a trip to the pools, check the tide calendar beforehand. Keep this in mind when planning before you decide on your day. Buggy rides offer a different kind of activity, while viewpoints and sea turtle watching add their own distinctive touches. This range of options helps you tailor your vacation to the experiences that interest you most, rather than combining every offering into a single outing.

Specific regulations apply to the visitor area of Piscina Natural do Picão. Public access is governed by a set visitor limit and special rules for visitor activities. Swimming and snorkeling without fins are permitted there. Guided tow diving may only be conducted by providers authorized by APACC/ICMBio, and each dive master may guide one visitor at a time. For autonomous scuba diving, a maximum of two visitors per group is allowed. In addition, each diver may complete no more than two dives there per day. If you are considering this particular experience, these conditions are an important part of choosing and planning your day.

Culture and Vacation Interests

Local tradition is also part of Japaratinga’s character: the festival of Nossa Senhora das Candeias, the municipality’s patron saint, is recognized as part of the municipality’s intangible historical and cultural heritage. This gives the town a cultural dimension alongside its beach and nature experiences. Together, these offer a variety of reasons to get to know Japaratinga: its quiet beaches, natural pools, the activities mentioned above and its cultural heritage.

When looking for a vacation rental, you can first decide what you want to focus on: beaches, pools and water experiences, nature watching, active outings or culture. This will help you see whether Japaratinga matches your vacation interests before choosing accommodation.
