Discover Corrientes along the river, through its history, and at its cultural festivals. The Costanera Gral. San Martín runs for 2,500 meters along the riverbank. Another riverside promenade was added in 2008: the Costanera Juan Pablo II extended it by 900 meters. This lets you plan different experiences for your trip—a walk along the river, a view of the city from the water, or a visit timed to a special cultural event.

Along the Paraná and at the beaches

On the Paseo por El Río, you can travel along the Paraná and view Corrientes and its varied architectural styles from the water. The activities also include hourly kayak rentals at Arazaty Beach.

At Corrientes’ beaches, designated bathing areas are open from October through the end of April, for seven months of the year. Recreational, sports, music, and dance activities take place there. This period is especially useful if you want to combine your trip with bathing areas and these activities. When choosing your vacation rental, it may therefore also be important to consider whether your travel dates are more focused on beach activities or cultural experiences.

Churches, history, and cityscape

The Circuito Histórico Religioso takes visitors to the seven churches of greatest historical significance in Corrientes. About two hours are set aside for the tour, with a planned 15-minute stop at each church. These timings provide a manageable framework for your visit if you would like to include religious history in your stay.

One building tells a story of the city’s past: the historic Casa Martínez at Fray José de la Quintana 901 was built on October 11, 1782. It is considered the city’s oldest civil building and houses the Museo Arqueológico y Antropológico. Another cultural reference is the name “Corrientes, Ciudad de los Murales”: the capital of Corrientes Province received this designation in 1991.

Festivals and discoveries in the region

January is an interesting time to visit for a special cultural program: the Fiesta Nacional del Chamamé takes place every January in the city of Corrientes. The traditional Fiesta de San Baltasar, featuring Candombe and Charanda, takes place on January 6 in Parque Camba Cuá. These festivals mark different occasions throughout the year; if you want to plan your trip around one of them, take its date into account when planning.

The Centro de Interpretación Casa Iberá is located on the Corrientes waterfront in the historic Casa Ferro. It invites residents and visitors to discover the province’s natural, cultural, and historical richness through educational, recreational, and interactive experiences. In the wider travel area, the Museo de Artesanías Tradicionales displays handicrafts made from leather, wood, plant fibers, and regional textiles. In the Corrientes region, guided boat fishing trips for dorado, surubí, boga, and pacú are also available, as are fishing options that release the catch. This gives you a range of ways to focus your trip, from city history and festivals to river experiences and regional activities.

Other places in the same wider travel area: Colonia Carlos Pellegrini, Guaviraví, Bella Vista, San Roque, Puerto Valle, San Lorenzo.
