In Villarino Partido, wide-open plains, the Atlantic coast, lagoons, salt flats, and the irrigated valley of the Río Colorado come together. These varied landscapes also shape the range of vacation experiences on offer, from dunes and water sports to wildlife watching, thermal baths, and cultural sites. If you’re looking for a vacation rental, first consider which of these settings you want to define your stay.

Coast, Lagoon, and Outdoor Activities

At Balneario La Chiquita, long beaches, clear water, and large dunes form part of an unspoiled setting. The area is especially known for fishing and water sports. Laguna Chasicó offers a different experience: it lies 21 meters below sea level and is designated a provincial nature reserve for its size and the diversity of its flora and fauna. It is also known for its abundant pejerrey fishing. Those interested in wildlife or fishing will find a different focus here than on the coast.

At Lago Parque La Salada, there is a signed 9 km trail that can be used for hiking, cycling, or driving. Swimming, windsurfing, and kitesurfing are also available there. You can plan your time around whether you’d rather spend it on the trail or in the water. At Termas de Médanos, meanwhile, there are indoor pools and an artificial thermal lake to explore on foot or by kayak. The 18-hectare wooded grounds are surrounded by nature and wildlife; the water reaches 74°C year-round.

Discover History and Culture

Fortín Mercedes tells a story spanning several chapters: the first fort was built in 1833 by order of Juan Manuel de Rosas and named Fortín Colorado. After a flood, it was relocated to its current site in 1858; in 1966, the Argentine Army rebuilt it. The Complejo Fortín Mercedes offers a historical walk amid nature along the banks of the Río Colorado. Another place with historical and religious significance is Paseo La Chimenea, a green space created on a site marked by ruins. The first factory for producing tomato paste in Villarino Partido once stood there.

The Museo Regional y Misionero Padre Juan Edmundo Vecchi preserves historical objects related to the educational, evangelizing, and missionary work of the Salesian congregation founded by Don Bosco. It also displays more than 6,000 botanical, zoological, and mineralogical specimens from the region. Other notable cultural sites include the Sinagoga de Médanos, a provincial landmark connected to the first Jewish settlers who arrived in the town in the early 20th century, and the Ermita de Ceferino Namuncurá, inaugurated in 2000, which features a statue of its namesake. Visiting the historic viewpoint Divisadero de Rosas requires permission from the Salesian institution.

Wine, Regional Products, and Getting There

Bodega y Viñedos Al Este tends vineyards covering 25 hectares. Its tour covers every stage of production and includes tastings. At Sabor Pampeano, tours take visitors around the farm and growing areas, with tastings and information about the artisanal production of its goods. These experiences give wine and food lovers specific reasons to include the culinary side of the Partido in their travel plans.
