Rail Trail and landscape

Woori Yallock is located on the Warburton Highway, about halfway along the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail. The trail runs through the wetlands of the Yarra River and across grazing land; on its route to Woori Yallock, it crosses the 175 m-long Woori Yallock Creek Bridge. On the section towards Woori Yallock, there are views of the Central Highlands to the northeast. Wetlands, grazing land, river and bridge together shape the landscape. Along the route, you encounter open spaces and a specifically named crossing, while Woori Yallock also stands out as a town along the trail. The 175 m-long Creek Bridge gives a specific measurement for the crossing; the view to the northeast adds the Central Highlands as another landscape reference point when planning your route.

Starting point and town centre

Woori Yallock Station has a large car park, picnic tables and horse yards. The station is a popular starting point for visitors who do not want to complete the entire Rail Trail; Woori Yallock is also a popular starting or finishing point. Its halfway location places the town along the route, while the station provides a specific reference point for starting a tour. There is a children's playground opposite the station car park. It is a five-minute walk from the car park to the diverse town centre, with cafés and public toilets. If you are travelling with children, the playground can be a reference point in your day’s plans; the cafés and toilets provide another place to take a break in the centre. Before your trip, check whether the facilities and amenities mentioned are available.

Church and bridge in the Heritage Overlay

Plan your stay

When looking for a holiday rental, you can prioritise the landmarks according to what you want to focus on during the day: the station car park is a useful reference point for a trail-focused stay, while the town centre, a five-minute walk away, brings cafés and public toilets into your plans. This gives you a clear comparison between the route and the town centre, without requiring them to serve the same purpose. In the wider region, Yarra Junction, Yellingbo and Launching Place are also recommended places to visit. If you are considering several destinations in the area, these names can extend your travel plans beyond Woori Yallock.
