The silos are Mitiamo’s most distinctive feature. Historically, they were a major grain-shipping centre, linking the town to its agricultural past. Mitiamo Golf Course adds a sporting option to the town’s character. Terrick Terrick National Park lies north of Mitiamo, offering a summit walk, views and grasslands as additional points of interest. Together, these offer different focuses for planning a trip: local history, golf in Mitiamo or an outing in the parkland.

Golf in Mitiamo

Mitiamo Golf Course is an 18-hole course with sand greens on mostly flat terrain. Visitors are welcome; no booking is required. The course is open from mid-April to the end of September. As operations may vary by season, check current conditions before travelling.

The days of the week may also be relevant when planning your visit: ladies’ competitions are held on Wednesdays, and competitions are held on Sundays; the licensed clubhouse is open on Sundays. If you’re planning your visit around competitions or clubhouse operations, check the latest dates and operating information, as both can change.

Summit Walk and Grasslands

Four kilometres north of Mitiamo, a short, steep track in Terrick Terrick National Park leads to the summit of Mt Terrick Terrick. From there, views extend across the park and surrounding farmland. Both “short” and “steep” describe the track: the climb is defined not only by its length but also by its gradient. By contrast, the golf course is on mostly flat terrain.

Visitors can explore the grasslands around the ruins of the Davies homestead. The historic homestead and associated grasslands are accessible via Mitiamo-Kow Swamp Road; conditions on rural roads can vary. Check current information before driving. The summit walk and the area around the Davies homestead offer different experiences: views across the park and farmland from above, and grassland exploration near the ruins.

Mitiamo General Store is near the entrance to the national park and can help you orient yourself for a park visit. If you’re planning to stop there, check its opening hours in advance.

Local life and finding accommodation

Mitiamo Tavern has an outdoor beer garden and indoor seating, offering places to sit both outside and inside. Local arrangements may change; check current information if a particular type of seating is important for your visit.

When looking for a holiday rental, it helps to have a clear idea of how you’d like to spend your days: should Mitiamo itself, with its golf course and silos, be the main focus, or would you also like to include the national park? The park is four kilometres north of the town.
