Kyabram combines nature experiences with art and performing arts. At Kyabram Fauna Park, you can get to know meerkats up close at the Meerkat Experience; elsewhere in the park is Hazelman's Cottage. The town also has a gallery with five exhibition spaces, a large-scale mural and a theatre that is also a cinema. If you’re looking for a holiday rental in Kyabram, you can plan your stay around whether wildlife, art, culture or a regular sporting event is your main interest.

Art in the Gallery and in Public Spaces

Kyabram Town Hall Gallery has five exhibition spaces. This describes an exhibition venue spread across several rooms, setting it apart from artworks in public spaces. If you’re interested in exhibitions, the Gallery is a distinct cultural element of your trip. The Kyabram Water Tank Mural offers a different perspective: the mural depicts the wetlands of Kyabram Fauna Park. It was painted by Jimmy Dvate and completed in March 2021.

The Water Tank Mural can be viewed from a disused railway platform that runs along the boundary of the water treatment plant. This particular vantage point makes the mural a special subject for anyone interested in large-scale painting and its themes. The wetlands of the Fauna Park are at the centre of the artwork. Exploring the mural therefore also leads to a subject from Kyabram’s natural world, although visiting an exhibition and having a wildlife experience need not be the same kind of outing.

Wildlife and a Place with a History

At Kyabram Fauna Park, the Meerkat Experience invites you to get to know meerkats up close. Hazelman's Cottage is located in another part of the same park. The park thus brings together two different points of interest: the up-close animal experience and a cottage within the park grounds. When deciding what you’re interested in, you can consider these alongside the gallery, the mural or the performing arts offerings.

Cinema, Live Theatre and a Weekly Run

The Goulburn Valley Regional Performing Arts Centre operates as the Plaza Theatre. It first opened in 1929 as a cinema, theatre, playhouse and dance hall. Today, Kyabram Plaza Theatre is both a cinema and a live theatre. This combination makes it appealing to travellers interested in film or stage performances: Kyabram offers both forms of culture under the name Plaza Theatre. The historic opening year is part of the venue’s history; its present-day description as a cinema and live theatre refers to its two cultural functions.

Another way to experience Kyabram is to join the parkrun on the Breen Avenue Walking Track. This free weekly 5 km event takes place every Saturday at 8 am in Kyabram. The route, day of the week, time and free entry give the event a clearly defined format. It is therefore a distinct option for your travel plans if you’d like to combine your stay with a regular run.
