Mineral water, a red gum sculpture installation and a circuit with a clearly stated distance give a trip to Korweinguboora a range of different highlights. Korweinguboora Recreation Reserve also has a sports oval, a playground and places to take a break. This lets you include cultural themes, exercise and time outdoors in your holiday plans and consider which experiences matter most to you during your stay.

Brim Brim: Water and Sculptures

Brim Brim is the Wadawurrung word for spring water. The name connects the theme of mineral springs with a cultural significance reflected in the sculpture project. Moorabool Shire Council commissioned two sculptures for the mineral spring sites in Ballan and Spargo Creek; the sculptures are titled Brim Brim.

The installation known as Brim Brim consists of two interconnected works made from locally sourced, 120-year-old red gum. The material and the connection between the two works give the project a tangible form. At the same time, the sculpture project at the Spargo Creek mineral springs is intended to acknowledge Indigenous connections to the sites. Those interested in art and cultural themes will find a different way to engage with the subject of water here than through nature alone.

Mineral Water from Spargo Creek

Spargo Creek Mineral Reserve provides access to freely flowing water directly from the mineral spring. Spargo mineral water is of the sodium bicarbonate type and is often called soda water; it has a sweet taste. These characteristics give the spring water its own sensory profile. You can therefore combine a visit with an interest in mineral springs and learn about water not only as a subject of the sculptures, but also through its composition and taste.

Circuit and Active Time

The Spargo Werribee River Circuit is a 15.7 km Grade 4 circuit. Its length and grade are useful details when choosing your outings. Plan this route as a standalone activity and take the stated distance into account when planning your day. It differs from a visit focused mainly on the springs, the water or sculpture.

A Break at Korweinguboora Recreation Reserve

Korweinguboora Recreation Reserve combines sports and recreation facilities with places to take a break: alongside the sports oval, there is a playground. If you’re travelling with children, you can include the playground as a specific stop in your plans. Shady picnic tables provide a place to sit; there is also a covered barbecue area with two free electric barbecues. Toilets and water taps are also provided at the reserve.

There are various activities to choose from during a stay: a walk around the circuit, a visit to the mineral water and time at the recreation reserve. When choosing your holiday accommodation, you can start by considering which of these experiences you want to make the focus of your trip. The places and activities described offer different ideas, without requiring you to limit your stay to a single theme.
