Discover Kettering in different ways along its tracks: the Kettering Point Track runs through coastal bushland and offers views of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island. The Oval Track and the Manuka Hills Track offer different experiences. When choosing where to stay, you can consider whether you want to include walks, coastal views, bushland or the ferry connection to Bruny Island in your plans.

Explore two loop walks

The Kettering Point Track is an easy walk near the coast through lightly wooded coastal bushland. The loop is 3 km long and takes one hour to walk. Birds, orchids and wildflowers can be seen along the track. It also offers panoramic views of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island. Aboriginal people’s shell middens are also found along the track and are among the visible features of this route.

A new section of the Kettering Point Track connects Kettering Point with Trial Bay. The Oval Track offers a shorter loop alternative: it is 1 km long and takes 30 minutes to walk. Its route passes through the Kettering Bushland Garden into the bushland behind the Kettering Oval. The Oval Track also follows the coast to a seat overlooking Little Oyster Cove. The two loop walks differ in both length and walking time. If you are travelling with children or weighing up different walks, you can take these details into account when planning your day.

Bushland, Channel and island views

The Manuka Hills Track offers a different perspective, with views stretching across the D’Entrecasteaux Channel to kunanyi/Mt Wellington. At the same time, the track passes through endangered silver peppermint forest. Kettering therefore offers a choice of walks through coastal bushland with views of Bruny Island, as well as a track through a distinctive forest.

Oyster Cove Marina is another point of reference by the water. It is located in Little Oyster Cove in Kettering, on the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. If you would like to include Bruny Island in your travel plans, you can also take the ferry connection into account: the SeaLink Bruny Island ferry takes about 15 minutes from Kettering to Bruny Island. This approximate travel time is a practical point of reference when choosing where to stay, but does not indicate anything about other travel times or the itinerary of an outing.

Kettering has a cultural side too

Kettering Concerts adds a musical dimension to the town, presenting six to seven chamber music concerts in Kettering each year. When planning your trip, you can consider classical chamber music alongside nature experiences. Together with the different tracks, this offers a varied perspective on the town: coastal scenery, bushland and music provide different ways to shape your stay.
