Crayfish Creek – Beaches along the Creek
Accommodation in Crayfish Creek
Beaches and the creek of the same name shape the landscape of Crayfish Creek. The coastline takes different forms: from a sand-and-rock strip in the high-water zone to a beach at the creek mouth and a small, rocky inlet. If you’re looking for a holiday rental in Crayfish Creek, you can start by considering which of these landscapes and experiences would make your stay most interesting.
Beaches with different features
Beach T 1000 is a 100 m-long strip of sand and rocks in the high-water zone. The contrast between the materials is part of the beach’s distinctive character: sand and rocks form the strip together. Its length can be compared with the two 150 m-long beaches, Beach T 1001 and Beach T 1003. Beach T 1001 lies on the west side of the mouth of Crayfish Creek. Of the three sections described, it is the beach whose location is explicitly linked to the creek mouth.
Beach T 1003 also has a 150 m-long strip of sand in the high-water zone. Unlike Beach T 1000, this strip is made of sand rather than sand and rocks. Beach T 1003 lies on the east side of the small settlement of Crayfish Creek. Its east-facing aspect and location on the settlement side give the beach its own character within the coastal landscape described here.
Beach T 1003 also includes a small, east-facing inlet edged by rocks. Rocks and reefs reduce the wave height there to 0.5 m. This is a specific difference from the wider sandy strip: the inlet has its own rocky form, while the length of the sandy strip is also specified for Beach T 1003. If you’re interested in coastal formations, you’ll find two distinct features described within a single beach.
The creek, bridge and activities on the water
A bridge crosses Crayfish Creek 50 m west of Beach T 1001. This gives a clearly specified direction and distance between the creek, the bridge and the beach. It adds another concrete landmark to the description of the area without conflating the three beach sections: the creek mouth is noted at Beach T 1001, and the bridge is west of it.
Boats are launched at Beach T 1003. This adds an activity on the water to the details about sand, rocks, aspect and wave height. When planning your holiday, you can therefore decide whether you’re most interested in a beach’s features, its location at the creek mouth, or boat launching. These interests describe different aspects of the area and do not imply a shared route.
Things to know for your stay
Surf Life Saving Australia currently provides no services at Crayfish Creek Beach (W 2). This information can help you orient yourself when visiting the beach. Crayfish Creek Van and Cabin Park offers direct access to a beach, a creek and forest reserves. This is a specific, named connection to the local landscape; it describes the park, not holiday rentals in Crayfish Creek in general.
When choosing a holiday rental, you can consider which experiences you’d like to shape your stay in Crayfish Creek.
