Cellar Door, Pétanque and Landscape
The Cellar Door is located at the entrance to the estate. Tastings include around six wines—a helpful guide if you want to focus on wine during your visit. Pétanque complements this offering as a traditional French activity. At Talits Estate, wine and a game with its own traditions are presented side by side, so you can enjoy the place in more than one way.
From the Cellar Door, guests can take in views of the picturesque lake, fountain and wildlife while enjoying Broke Brewing craft beer. This view adds to the experience beyond wine: water, a landscaped feature such as the fountain, and animals are also part of the landscape described. If you’re travelling with a range of interests, you can consider these features alongside tastings and pétanque when choosing your destination.
Talits Estate is a member of the Broke Fordwich Wine Trail.

A Wine Tradition with History
Winegrowing in Fordwich dates back to the period after the First World War. Returning soldiers planted vines on individual 10-acre plots in the Fordwich Soldiers Settlement Purchase Area. In the Fordwich area, some of the original vines planted in 1922 still bear fruit today. These two facts give the wine landscape a historical context: alongside specific wines and tastings is a long history of cultivation, extending to the original vines that still bear fruit today.
