The city was founded on October 12, 1758, and is considered the second-oldest city in the Shenandoah Valley. The bell in the tower is the same one that George W. Lemley donated for the former church building in 1812. Today’s Stephens City Methodist Church is a brick building constructed in 1913 in the Gothic Revival style. Sherando Park covers 330 scenic acres. Participation costs 5 US dollars per person, is available to those aged 6 and older, and requires advance reservations.
