Lehi is Utah’s sixth-oldest city; its pioneer and Old West heritage sits alongside active trails, nature-themed attractions, and hands-on exhibits. Different interests can shape your trip planning: getting outdoors, discovering gardens and butterflies, or exploring history and natural sciences through exhibits.

Trails for Hikers and Cyclists

The Hidden Canyon Trailhead offers easy access to the Traverse Mountain trail system. From there, cyclists and hikers can explore more than 28 miles of scenic trails. This makes the trailhead a practical starting point for anyone who enjoys spending time on the trails.

The Mayors’ Trail is a 2.2-mile multi-use trail that connects users with the Draper Trails System. Its clearly stated length and connection to the Draper Trails System offer a different point of reference from the more than 28 miles of trails accessible from the Hidden Canyon Trailhead.

Gardens and Butterflies

Ashton Gardens spans 50 acres and includes 17 themed areas. The grounds are also home to the largest man-made waterfall in America. The number of themed areas shows the variety within the garden, while the waterfall adds a striking landscape feature.

More than a thousand butterflies from around the world live at the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Butterfly Conservatory. The Butterfly Biosphere is Utah’s only butterfly conservatory and the state’s only insectarium. The two names represent different aspects of exploring butterflies and insects.

Hands-On Exhibits

The Museum of Natural Curiosity features more than 400 interactive exhibits. Its hands-on approach offers a different kind of discovery than a stroll through gardens or a day on the trails.

The Mountain America Museum of Ancient Life in Lehi displays 60 complete dinosaur skeletons and offers more than 50 interactive exhibits. These include the Erosion Table and the Quarry Dig. At the Paleo Studio, visitors can use paleontological tools to excavate an Eocene fossil. Large skeletons sit alongside hands-on stations and a dedicated excavation activity.

Curiosity Farms is a working farm with hydroponic growing containers. Hands-on animal experiences include goats, pigs, and cows: visitors can feed goats and pigs and milk cows. Agricultural production and direct animal encounters represent two different aspects of the program.

Pioneer History and the Cityscape

Lehi’s pioneer and Old West heritage can be explored through several historical connections. During its main period of use, the Overland Stagecoach Route passed through or near Lehi. The Main Street Historic District includes buildings from the original business center along Main Street, between Center Street and 200 West Street.

Snow Springs also offers a historical connection: the park has a walking path and a marker dedicated to Lehi’s pioneers. A walk here can be paired with a tangible piece of local history.

If you’re looking for a vacation rental in Lehi, your travel interests can help guide your search. Consider whether you’d most like to explore trails, experience nature-themed attractions, visit interactive exhibits, or discover historical connections.
