Crump: History and Market
Accommodation in Crump
Crump, Tennessee, offers a city park, a flea market, and several memorial sites. For a short visit, these can be considered separately: the park is a public open space, the market’s schedule depends on current operating days, and historical markers call for a factual perspective. Crump is on the west side of the Harrison-McGarity-Carpenter Bridge.
City Park and Dewey Phillips
Crump City Park has a walking path and pavilions. A historical marker there also commemorates Dewey Mills Phillips, who was born in Crump on May 13, 1926. Phillips was the first to play Elvis Presley on the radio. The marker connects the place to a chapter in music history; it does not indicate a museum or a daily event. For a visit to the park, current rules for its use and the actual location of the pavilions are important.
Memorial at City Hall
The grounds of Crump City Hall feature a veterans’ memorial with a painted AH-1 Huey Cobra gunship and a dedication plaque. The display is part of a memorial site, not an operational aircraft or an attraction offering flights. Please respect the grounds and the significance of the dedication.
The Cherokee Trail of Tears route passed through the community, approximately along what is now US 64. This refers to a serious historical subject. It does not allow for an exact reconstruction of a single route or of events at a specific point in Crump. For further study, consult appropriate historical sources.
Flea Market and Staying Overnight
At the Crump Flea Market, vendors use indoor and outdoor stalls as well as tables; antiques are among the goods mentioned. An older description lists Saturday and Sunday as market days. Check current dates and vendors before traveling solely for the market. Choose accommodation based on its actual location relative to the park, market, or your onward journey. None of the places mentioned automatically guarantees that all the destinations are within walking distance of one another.
