Gresham: Trails, Nature and History

Gresham combines diverse trails, wooded heights and urban nature with a remarkable history. The trail is connected to the summit of Gresham Butte and offers panoramic views of the city. In the 46-acre Shane T. Bemis Nature Park on Hogan Butte in the Gresham Butte neighborhood, a paved, 0.5-mile interpretive loop trail complements the offerings. Sandy River Natural Area and Current Planning

Oxbow Regional Park encompasses 1,000 acres of river, forest and hilly landscape along the wild and scenic Sandy River. The park also includes more than 12 miles, or 19 kilometers, of hiking trails. For trips from September 8, 2026, however, it is important to note that Oxbow Regional Park will be closed for several months while its outdated water system is replaced. The Zimmerman House Museum is located in an 1874 farmhouse in northwest Gresham and houses thousands of artifacts. Gresham's History Museum is housed in Gresham's 1913 Carnegie library.

Gresham also has a Japanese garden, Tsuru Island, in Main City Park. In the heart of historic Downtown Gresham, works of art line Main Street; they are part of nearly two dozen public art projects. The Gresham Farmers' Market complements these impressions with local fruit, produce, flowers, handcrafted goods, fresh food and baked goods.
