Fairfield: Discover Parks, a Spring-Fed Lake, and Culture
Accommodation in Fairfield
Fairfield brings together nature, movement, and culture in many forms: from the trails at Harbin Park to art and events. There is also a spring-fed lake with accessible shoreline and wakeboarding at Wake Nation. When searching for a vacation rental, you can start by considering which of these experiences you want to shape your stay.
Trails and Water in Fairfield
At Harbin Park, you can choose from different trails: about 7 miles of unpaved hiking and mountain biking trails, plus a separate 1.5-mile paved loop. The roughly 7 miles refer to the unpaved trails; the paved loop is a separate option. If you want to take the surface into account when planning, you can choose between these two types of trails. All trails can be used in either direction. Cyclists must yield to pedestrians.
Thomas O. Marsh Park Fishing Lake is a naturally spring-fed lake with more than 4,000 feet of accessible shoreline. The lake also has a 0.75-mile paved walking path, along with fitness equipment. This makes the walk a separate option for getting active. Boating is also permitted: allowed vessels include human-powered boats such as kayaks, canoes, rowing shells, rowboats, and jon boats, provided they carry a valid registration sticker or an alternative registration decal. Electric trolling motors are also allowed. Boating rules may be revised seasonally; check the current regulations before setting out.
Active Options at Harbin Park and Wake Nation
In addition to its trails, Harbin Park has eight pickleball courts with seating. A shelter is available, but it does not cover the courts. The park also has an 18-hole course designed in collaboration with the Greater Cincinnati Flying Disc Association. Alongside hiking and biking, you can also consider the courts and course as other ways to stay active there.
Wake Nation offers a different focus: more than two dozen wakeboarding features and both types of cable systems. This contrast with the walking and hiking trails can help with planning your day if you are weighing different ways to be active. You can treat wakeboarding as a separate activity rather than lumping it together with the more leisurely trail options.
Art, Recreation, and Summer Events
The Fairfield Community Arts Center, in the heart of Fairfield, offers a variety of cultural events and recreational activities. Its art gallery hosts up to six exhibitions each year featuring local and regional artists; admission is free. The exhibition program may vary from year to year. A visit to the Arts Center therefore adds a cultural focus to the nature and activity options.
Village Green Park has beautiful fountains, sculptures, and an amphitheater. In summer, it also hosts a popular concert series. As the program may vary seasonally, check the current dates before visiting. The combination of park design and concerts offers a different way to experience Fairfield than the sporting activities on the trails, at the lake, or at Wake Nation.
Choose a Vacation Rental to Suit Your Planned Stay
If you are planning a family trip, first decide which activities will be the deciding factor for your group. Focusing on walks and trails puts different experiences at the center of your plans than an itinerary built around wakeboarding or cultural events.
