Notable buildings include Grace Episcopal Church in the Gothic Revival style, dating approximately from 1872 to 1899, as well as the Edwards-Green House. This two-story wood-frame residence features elements of the Italianate style and dates approximately from 1878.

The history of work and commerce is also visible. The Weldon Mills Distillery building was originally constructed as a gristmill in 1892. Today, the distillery offers tours and has a tasting room. Riverside Mill combines an antiques center, an arts and crafts gallery and outlet stores in a historic cotton mill on the banks of the Roanoke River. In addition to Riverside Mill, the foundation stones of a Confederate hospital are still visible; a Confederate cemetery lies a few blocks from Riverside Mill, directly along the Canal Trail.

For another perspective on the town’s history, Weldon’s Downtown Tour begins at Rocky Rockfish Park. It follows Washington Avenue, Weldon’s “Main Street,” and highlights local history as well as shopping opportunities. Weldon is also home to the oldest railroad building in the state. Its first section was built by the Portsmouth and Roanoke Railway between 1838 and 1845 as a freight depot.
