At the Seaway Visitor Center, you can watch international freighters pass through the lock from observation platforms. A 6-mile trail system is connected to the Nature Center and offers scenic walks year-round. The Richards Landing Dike Trail starts at the Massena Intake Dam on Route 131, runs along the St. Lawrence River, and ends just past the Massena Country Club. The Whalen Park Trail is also nearby, close to the Tucker Terrace area in Massena, New York. This paved out-and-back trail is 3.2 miles long and is used primarily for hiking, walking, trail running, and road cycling.
